SteriPro becomes the first sterile processing operation accredited in Canada
MISSISSAUGA, ON — Accreditation Canada has awarded SteriPro Exemplary Standing, making SteriPro the first sterile processing operation ever accredited in Canada.
Accreditation Canada surveys hospitals and health organizations against national standards for quality and patient safety. No sterile processing operation — hospital-based or independent — had previously completed the program. SteriPro pursued accreditation voluntarily, on the position that an organization asking hospitals for their trust should submit to the same external scrutiny hospitals do.
Exemplary Standing is Accreditation Canada's highest decision level. SteriPro has maintained the standing in every survey cycle since — most recently reaffirmed in 2026 — alongside ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and ISO 17025 certifications and Health Canada establishment licensing.
For hospital partners, the practical meaning is simple: the reprocessing operation behind your OR is audited to the same national quality framework you are — and has held its highest rating for a decade.
